Dylan grew up in Umlazi Township, which is in the east coast of Durban. He was raised with deep values of faith, respect for your neighbour and elders as well as humility – hence his calm demeanour. He decided to move to Cape Town in 2010 when an opportunity to grow his hospitality career called. He spent three years in Cape Town where he acquired his Diploma in tourism. He climbed the ladder from Guest Services Attendant to Duty Manager in Front Office. In 2013 he wanted a taste of the fast paced city, thus moving to Johannesburg. In July 2017 he was called to join the dynamic A-team at Once in Joburg as General Manager. Dylan is also somewhat a chef in his own right, influenced by his grandmother’s cooking – he uses food as a means to bring people together. “Food is one of the few things that is able to bring people together, to be the gatekeeper of that experience is truly an honour”.
